Certified Active Environments

Follow these Three Standards

 

1. Functionally Rich Furniture

  • Swings, chairs and hammocks hang from exposed beams doubling as exercise equipment

  • Monkey Bars under lofts, down hallway or stairway to climb or hang items

  • Doorways with objects to push, pull, climb or lift in order to pass through

  • Strong Built-In Shelves hold functional items and sturdy enough to climb

  • Fireman’s Pole, climbing rope, aerial silks or climbing wall to stay busy

  • small or large Trampoline to wake the nerves & improve digestion

2. Space to Move

  • Sunken living room for convenience of getting up and down

  • Slides/Ramps for level changes and improved ankle mobility

  • Walk-in showers without doors or curtains encourage flow

  • strong and sturdy Desk/tables that Folds away into Wall

  • Floor made of spring foam that invites child’s play

3. Creative Surprises

  • hidden rooms under or behind common items always bring a smile

  • Fidget Boards come out of the floor or wall in standing areas (by sink or laundry)

  • sauna, steam room, Salt room or ice baths for environmental change

  • Library Lounge for reading and relaxing

Additional Considerations

  • Sleep: Multiple dark locations with a variety of material and levels

  • Nature: Bring the calmness of vegetation, fireplaces, sunlight and water indoors

  • Air: If fresh air is limited, consider filtration systems

  • Grow Room: Vertical garden area for herbs and small veggies

  • Storage: Visible / Open space (if you don’t use it, you don’t need it)

  • Decoration: Paint on the floors and walls phrases of motivation

  • Materials should be Responsibly Sourced and Environmentally Conscience
